Even the most organized of individuals may find themselves baffled by the assortment of boxes scattered around their new house after moving day. We here at All My Sons Moving and Storage know how frustrating it is to have to dig through half a dozen boxes looking for essentials that you need to make your new residence a home.
When packing for your new move, here are a few tips to keep in mind to make sure that your most important items are easy to locate and unpack when you need them.
Pack individual suitcases
Have every member of the family pack a suitcase for him or herself. Include clothes for a few days, sheets, towels, toiletries and other essentials. Making everyone responsible for his or her own items will make it easier to ensure that all necessary items are accounted for.
Pack a box to open first
Set aside a box which you will open immediately upon arrival at your new house. This box may contain plates and kitchen utensils, some staple foods such as coffee, laundry detergent and dish soap, or extra blankets. Decide what should be in this important box based on your own individual needs. In addition, you will probably want to pack this box with you instead of sending it with your Jacksonville movers.
Label everything
Be thorough when you label boxes. Mark every box with what it contains, what room it belongs in, and whose things it contains. Unpacking will go much quicker if you can be sure everything is where it belongs right from the beginning.
