What to Plant This Spring in Jacksonville

Are you ready to start stretching your green thumb and investing in your garden after moving to Jacksonville? Then you need to check out our list of what to plant this spring in Jacksonville from your local movers at All My Sons Moving & Storage.

Summer squash and zucchini – If you live in North Florida, the best time to plant summer squash and zucchini is in spring and fall. To ensure a successful harvest, plant specifically in March and again in August. Squash and zucchini make for a nutritious side dish and are easy to cook.

Beans – Both bush and pole beans can be planted between March and April, and again between August and September. To have a greater harvest ratio, plan on planting bean crops every three weeks during the entire spring and winter seasons.

Cantaloupe – If you’re interested in planting something sweet this spring after moving to Jacksonville, consider planting cantaloupe. This nutritious vegetable (that’s right, vegetable!) is not only healthy for you, but also pairs well with yogurt, cottage cheese and granola.

Lettuces – Although you can plant lettuce in March, you’ll want to get on it right away, as the planting season for most lettuces begins in February. Along with Romaine lettuce, our local Jacksonville moving company suggests planting something like a spicy arugula to give you more variety.

Herbs – If maintained properly, most herbs do fairly well in Jacksonville year round. Consider planting herbs you’ll most likely use in your cooking, such as basil or rosemary.
