How to Pack More Efficiently

Almost everyone knows some packing basics, such as labeling boxes with room or item specifics to help organize them. Here are two extra tips and tricks you may not have previously thought of to help make your next move simpler, faster, and more efficient.

One Room at a Time

Whenever possible, consider fully packing up one room at a time—or as much of that room as is possible. Often, items can get lost in other boxes when multiple rooms are packed at the same time. This translates to wasting lots of time and energy relocating items to their proper locations once you arrive to your new home and start organizing everything. Completely finishing packing a room can also give you a sense of accomplishment, which may make it easier for you to start tackling other areas of the house.

Color-Coding

Labeling boxes with content specifics is helpful, but what can be even more efficient is utilizing some method of color-coding. Each room gets a color—pick colors that make sense to you, and that will be easy to remember later on. If you have many rooms, it may be helpful for you to create a list to help identify which color represents which room. From there, you can use magic markers to color portions of the boxes, or you can use colored stickers.
